PROJECT GOAL:

Re-certify the continuous operating base station “GeoBase”, establish thirteen (13) geodetic control monuments within the fenced perimeter of Schriever AFB, and collect aerial imagery.

DESCRIPTION:

This project was Delivery Order #0004 under Contract No. W9128F-14-D-0002 with USACE, Omaha District. Midland Surveying was responsible for providing aerial targets and photo ID coordinate values to subcontractor, Merrick and Company, to assist with their compilations and review for collecting aerial imagery and developing topographic and planimetric mapping of Schriever Air Force Base (AFB).

Phase I - Involved the re-certification of Schriever AFB, which currently operates the continuous-operating Base Station “GeoBase”.  Twenty-four (24) hour GPS sessions were processed using National Geodetic Survey (NGS) Programs, Online Positioning User Service (OPUS) and OPUS Projects to determine the most accurate x,y,z coordinates.

Phase II - Midland Surveying installed five (5) new type “B” permanent control monuments. Static, Rapid Static, and RTK GPS observations were completed on the existing and new permanent control monuments. GPS data was processed using NGS Programs, OPUS and OPUS Projects to determine the most accurate x,y,z coordinates. Coordinate values were published for each permanent control monument in accordance with the task order and U-Smart control sheets were completed.

Phase III - Dual five (5) minute RTK GPS observations were completed on the aerial targets and photo ID points, with differences greater than 0.06’ being re-observed.  Coordinate values and digital photos for each point were provided to Merrick & Company.
